Library cards are free, and applying for one only takes a few minutes! To get a library card, just stop into the library with your driver's license or state ID and any library cards you may have from Allegheny County.
If you do not have an Allegheny County library card, you will complete a form and receive a temporary library card. Your permanent card will generally be available within two weeks, and can be used at any library in Allegheny County.
If you already have a card from another Allegheny County library, you will complete a form and be added to our patron database, and you will be able to use your card at the Millvale Library.
By entering the Millvale Library you agree that your photo may be taken for use in marketing materials for the library. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please let the staff know.
We have eight Google Chromebox computers running Google chrome for web browsing. The computers are for public use, but we ask that you not stream movies or television series from non-legitimate sites (if you have a subscription to HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Netflix, or want to use YouTube, that's fine, but we ask that you keep your viewing content family-friendly).
We do not have Microsoft Office for general use, but if you have a Gmail account you can access Google Docs for your productivity needs.
Please bring your own headphones if possible, as the library's supply for lending is limited.
During peak times, especially from 4:00 - 6:00 PM and on Saturdays, we ask that you limit your computer use to 30 minutes.
Printing and Copying
Printing and copying costs 25 cents per page. We will always review your print job before beginning the process, so you will be aware of the cost of the print job.
Our printing capabilities are limited, and we may have difficulty with printing Microsoft Office documents. We cannot print in color.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer scanning or fax services at this time.
Inside the library we have tables and chairs to sit and read or study, a children's area with small chairs, large storybooks, and a train table, a community meeting room, and a large backyard complete with a deck, a community garden plots, a rain garden, and a view of Girty's Run.
